Before you become a blogger and get paid for it, you must understand three extremely important principles. If you do not accept these, your blogging and money making efforts WILL fail.
1. Don’t Chase the Money
A mistake that we all make when first stepping into the online marketing and entrepreneurial world is only focusing on making the money. Although money is the motive, it is not the foundation. How can we build a successful online platform on money if we have not already earned it? When you consider creating a blog with the goal of making money, you must realize that will not happen overnight. You get out of it what you put in. If you focus on the quality of your blog posts, the money will naturally come. You must be dedicated. It could take months before you ever make a single dollar.
2. Chose Niche that You Enjoy
As a blogger, you will need to be willing to go the extra mile to created interesting content. If you chose a topic that you know nothing about, its not the end of the world because you can always do the research. On the other hand, you put yourself in a bad position if you choose to blog about something that you are honestly not interested in. This situation is common for those who try to chase the money and follow the crowd. Pick something that you are constantly curious about and willing to research even when not blogging. If you are always reading real estate guides and stories just because you are truly interested, chances are this is the perfect niche for you. Start a blog on the topics that you find interesting and helpful about real estate. Blogging will feel like a hobby instead of a chore. When you do something you love, you will be rewarded greatly in the long run.
3. Stick to a Strict Schedule
A blogger must build a reputation through accountability. Your subscribers want to know your posting frequency and that they will be able to tune in at the same time for new helpful information. If you stick to a posting schedule, you will also be more likely to finish the blog post ahead of time and receive a higher search engine ranking.
Now that you have developed a good understanding of what it takes to create a successful blog, you are ready to monetize it. There are several different approaches to making money with a blog, each more or less effective depending on your niche and type of blog. If you have a blog on physical fitness, you’re going to want to write reviews on decent brands of nutrition. After doing so, you could allow your audience to purchase that product. Say you post a link to buy that product on amazon. With an amazon associates account, you would receive commission for the transaction. You could take this approach in every niche.
A more common and simpler way to monetize a blog is through Google Ads. Assuming your site is already receiving a decent amount of traffic, you may place up to three ads per page on your site. These ads will most likely be relevant to your blog and will attract people to click on it. Google will pay a certain amount for every click. Facebook generates over $1 billion in ad revenue annually with this method.
